Fuchsia: General information

It comes from Mexico, where it grows as a tree. In Europe it arrived in the 700s,
thanks to the sailors of the English ships, who, returning from South America, brought with them some specimens. The British tradition says that the
botanist James Lee noticed fuchsia,
for the first time, on the window sill of a house in a suburb of London. He asked the owner
to give it to him; but the lady refused because the plant had been given to her
from the sailor son returning from a long trip overseas. Sir Lee had to settle for some cuttings, thanks to which he managed to reproduce the fuchsia in the greenhouse. From that moment his nursery became a destination for many visitors, who came from every part of the country to admire the splendor of that strange plant they had never seen before. For the shape of its flowers, its bearing and its colors so elegant,
fuchsia is considered synonymous with grace and grace.
