Forsizia is a small shrub of easy cultivation; there are varieties with erect development, very suitable also to form flowering hedges, or variety with ground cover development, ground cover. It is a deciduous species, which in winter completely loses its foliage; at the end of winter, as soon as the days begin to heat up, the forizia is filled with delicious yellow flowers, even before the leaves appear. After flowering it is advisable to shorten all the branches of our forsythia, because it is a vigorous shrub, which tends to develop rapidly, and therefore needs pruning to maintain a dense and well branched shape. A second pruning can be done in early summer. It prefers sunny positions, and needs watering only in case of periods of prolonged drought.
