Caladium is a herbaceous plant with spring and summer development; from the fleshy rhizomes the shoots develop directly, which produce long petioles at the ends of which grow large heart-shaped leaves, of various colors, from white to pink, generally with a margin and veins of green color. They can be grown as apartment plants or in the garden, but at a minimum temperature of at least 12-15 ° C; the plant tends to develop a large roundish shrub, which can reach 50-60 cm in height. We place our caladium in shaded or semi-shaded places; during the luxuriant growth of the foliage we water with regularity, always waiting for the soil to dry between one watering and another. In late summer, early autumn, the foliage dries up completely, and we can suspend the watering until the next spring.
