Although the plant is native to hot countries, coriander thrives in the middle climatic zone, as well as in latitudes with cooler climates. Cilantro surprisingly combines cold resistance and thermophilicity, is unpretentious to care for and easy to grow.

Seat selection

For landing, choose places with an abundance of sunlight. In shaded areas, cilantro is not sufficiently enriched with essential oils, has a weak taste and aroma, and is more like a weed. Grows best in loose, nutritious soil. On damp soils, the roots of the plant often rot. Coriander perfectly coexists with other spicy plants (dill, caraway seeds).

Boarding time

They begin to plant seeds in mid-spring, when the soil warms up slightly. Cilantro is cold-resistant and survives small frosts up to -5 C. To enjoy the spice longer, planting can be carried out several times, until mid-July.


The grains are covered with a dense shell and germinate for a long time (up to two weeks). To speed up the emergence of shoots, they are pre-soaked in warm water for 1-2 days.
